Minimalism – When life feels overwhelming

Does it feel like you're standing in the middle of a circle and everywhere you look there are things to act on? The laundry is full in the laundry basket. The dishes pile up on the sink or you can't even load or empty the dishwasher. The children call for mom all the time and demand your attention constantly. Colleagues call around the clock and the pile of tasks just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Your husband wonders why you never have time to get ready and beautify yourself anymore. You are being pulled from all sides and corners and you are suffocating. The air begins to run out in the lungs. The headache is screaming at you and you start to see a gloomier version of yourself in the mirror. The happy old you is gone.
I understand you completely. But what do you say if I say there is a solution to the problem? There is something called minimalism and simple living.

Minimalism is about living with only the things that give you value in life. It's about removing all access to things that create chaos and disorder in your life. Simple living is usually a natural step to take after being a minimalist for a while. More if there is to read in my blog posts about just simple living or slow living as it is also called.
However, below are some points to consider in order to take the step towards becoming a minimalist.

1. Write a list of what you want to change to get a clearer picture of it.
2.Declutter everything unnecessary in your home. There is a lot of inspiration to learn about this topic both on my blog www.marysdeclutterlife.com and on my youtube channel marys life home and away.
3. Unsubscribe from companies that email you constantly. Whether you buy from them or not, delete any company that emails you that you don't really want to buy from.
4. Stop buying unnecessary things. If it is difficult, you can motivate yourself by taking a regular piece of paper, draw as many circles as correspond to the days of the month and color in a beautiful color every time you have gone a whole day without shopping and color in a gloomy color on the day you shopped. You will be more motivated to have more colorful colors on your paper.
5. Set rules for the home and family. You can't do everything yourself so ask for help. You will also need to involve your family members if you want to live more minimalistic and that includes talking to your relatives about not showering the children with presents and Christmas gifts but only sticking to one or two gifts.
6. I know it can feel far away if you feel the way I described above but when you've gotten to the level where it's manageable, make it a habit to make sure you and your family pick up and put away all the things you've used during the day. Set up a system where the children must have picked up all their things from the floor before going to bed. Make sure the dishes are put away every night before you go to bed. Make sure you can wake up to a home prepared to increase motivation and energy in the home. When we wake up and see all the chaos, our energy level drops and it becomes even tougher to handle the day unlike if you woke up to a home that is ready for you.

I know it takes time to move forward. I know it will require extra energy on your part. I know it will be blood, sweat and tears but I can guarantee you it will be worth it in the end. And one thing I want to say. There has to be chaos before things get good again and it is progress over perfection that applies. All it comes down to is that right now, yes right now, you go and grab the one thing that is bothering you in your field of vision right now and you will see that if you are motivated, that little thing will be the beginning of your new peaceful life. I wish you the best of luck and if you don't believe in yourself, you should know that I believe in you anyway.

Best regards.
