DECLUTTER – time to check everything before the new year

Do you tend to have goals in your life? Do you usually set New Year's goals where you will achieve your goals in the coming year?
Whether you do it or not, it's time to review how you'd like it to be for the next year and which of your possessions will be allowed to accompany you into this new period of time.

Take a lap around your home and feel if it feels like you and possibly if you have family, if it feels like you as a family. Do you want to carry all the papers that have piled up on the dining table into the next year? Do you want a wardrobe full of clothes that you don't feel comfortable in anymore? Do you want the bathroom full of old products that have partly expired (yes, make-up and skincare actually go bad after a while) or that may have even started to look strange or smell bad? The children's rooms may be overflowing with toys and outgrown clothes and you start to feel panic that you will never have room for the new ones who enter the house at Christmas. Do you feel any of this or any other overwhelmed feeling? Maybe it's simply that the computer or phone is screaming that the memory is full and you won't be able to take a single picture at Christmas because the memory card is out of memory.

If you recognize yourself, or feel another similar feeling, now is the time to sit down and think about how you would like the next year to be. What are your dreams and goals? Do you have the opportunity to achieve them as life looks now?

I took a look around here at home and found several books that I no longer need, I love to read and, as a student, have a lot of new books that I have to read but I don't need the ones that are just standing there gathering dust. The books that don't represent me anymore.

Not only is it Christmas, I'm also turning 40 soon. I took a look at home and thought about who I am as an almost 40-year-old. I realized that I finally needed to get hold of my craft supplies. I have been drawn to this category for years. I used to spend so much money on this category but I don't use it all. However, this has been difficult for me, what if, what if I ever want to use it again, what if I ever want to start making cards among other things again, what if someone else needs to borrow something from this, but what if I never ever coming to the point again that I need these things I bought and collected. So many think about it but the time was now. I got rid of 2/3 of the ones I owned. Made sure three boxes became one.

Who do you think you are in 2025. Have you even considered that you have most likely changed in recent years. You are probably not the same person today as you were a few years ago. You have learned a lot along the way, developed. Now is the time to think about who you are and whether your possessions reflect who you are. Do they do that? Do you only own things that reflect you?

Below are some tips on categories or areas to look towards.
- Paper (can easily become a disaster if we don't comply, think about the fire risk also that all paper presents)
- Toys (we all know the kids will get new ones at Christmas)
- Kitchen items (do you have things in the kitchen that you never use or do you have lots of duplicates?)
- Bathroom products (time to treat yourself to new fresh products instead of the old half-empty bottles you never use anyway. A tip here is to stick to the products you love)
- Clothes (you deserve to wear clothes that you love. Rather have a few great clothes than several that you only half like and still don't want to wear)
- The Christmas things (when you bring out Christmas, you might as well declutter everything you don't put out this year)
- Collections (can apply to craft supplies, CDs, movies, books, ornaments or anything else that you collect or have a lot of)
- Furniture (yes sometimes we have to declutter furniture so as not to fill empty spaces with new things)

Hope this list can help you with inspiration. I didn't want to make a long list because it's already stressful as it is around Christmas. But of course hope you got inspiration and motivation to review how you would like your life in 2025.
Wishing you all a fantastic 2025.

Kind regards
