Have you ever wondered why sometimes you feel like doing something and sometimes you don't? It is simply about our ability to perform, which is controlled by a variety of factors such as gastrointestinal function, stress response and motivation.
When it comes to motivation, it is a hugely important part of the Declutter process. If we don't feel motivated, we probably won't do what we need to do either. It becomes like a vicious circle, I want to live an easier life but all the things drag my motivation down and then I do nothing instead.
In order to feel good and last, the body needs to be good. We cannot cope with the stresses of life if we are ill or for other reasons feel unwell. Depression, for example, is a big reason why we feel that we lack motivation, but have you thought about the fact that you become more motivated and less depressed if you actually manage to get hold of something. It becomes like a domino effect. Take the small step to be able to cope and you will get an effect where you feel more motivated and have more energy.
Sometimes you may not be able to start your cleanse until you have taken care of your body first and that is nothing to be ashamed of. You may simply need to start by, for example, making sure your stomach is working or starting to exercise to feel better before you can start with your declutter, You simply need to feel good to be able to increase your performance in order to be able to take it after that you really want to do but can't bear to do. And I can tell you that once you start decluttering, you will automatically feel better and want to improve other parts of your life as well so it becomes a vicious circle the other way.
Here are some tips to increase your motivation: - Social media in the form of Youtube and Pinterest (blogs) but be careful not to get stuck on things that absolutely do not give you motivation. Be determined and look for things you want to be motivated by. Regarding decluttering and minimalism, I have several videos that can give you inspiration on YouTube at Mary's life home and away. I also have several blog posts on the subject at www.marysdeclutterlife.com - Exercise, and by that I don't just mean hard exercise, but also walking can strengthen your motivation. Breathing fresh air is good for health and we feel healthier. - Write a list of goals but don't forget the sub-goals. - Balance between your goals and what you want to do with what you actually can do. - Praise yourself and give yourself a reward for every progress you make and it is progress over perfection that applies. - Some people are triggered by competitions and if you are a competitive person, set up different competitions that you have to beat along the way to your goals. - Promote collaboration. It can help to be two. If you and your partner are like-minded, you can encourage each other, otherwise a friend can be of great help. However, it is important to choose a friend who gives motivation and does not drag you down. If you want to declutter your house, don't choose a friend who saves on everything, but choose a friend who is decluttering him/herself so that you can encourage each other in it. - Be clear both with yourself and with your family members. - Write a list of areas you want to declutter and give yourself praise and reward every time you can check off an item on the list. It will motivate you to want to check off more items on the list.
