The seasons change 4 times a year if you live in a country where they change between seasons. We are now entering autumn and the leaves are changing color. It is a perfect month to bring out the candles and make it cozy at home. Here are some tips on how you can make it cozy at home without buying a lot of decorations and gadgets that will fill up the home. Simply tips on how you can arrange the cozy at home with a minimalist feel.
Number 1: Review the inventory of candles and tealights. Just because it is going to be a dark month, it does not mean that you need to buy new candlesticks if you already have them at home. I have a couple of candlesticks that I received as a gift that work all year round and that went on the kitchen table now. In addition, I have neutral candles that do not smell but just give a nice atmosphere. The candles I have are also suitable for them all year round. A little later, when the cold really creeps in, I'll take out my calming scented candle for a restful evening when the wind blows against the window outside.
Number 2: Get a blanket and hang it over an armchair or the edge of the sofa so that it is there when you need it. I got my thickest blanket and hung it on the back of the armchair so that you can easily pull it over your legs when it starts to get cold. A blanket in an armchair creates an inviting and cozy feeling and inspires you to sit down and snuggle up with a cup of tea or a book. I have also put a blanket in bed for cold nights.
Number 3: Buy some tea or a special good coffee. It is good to warm yourself with when the wind is whipping outside.
Number 4: Get a good book that you can sit and read while darkness creeps in. Borrowing from the library is a great way to read several books without buying them all.
Number 5: Choose a good series or good movies to sit and snuggle up with on the sofa.
Number 6: Parlour games with the family are a must during the rainy cold months when you don't feel like doing anything outdoors. Games that we play a lot of are Game of Life, Yatzy or Domino.
Number 7: Bake some delicious bread to eat with your tea or coffee. There is nothing better than melted butter on freshly baked bread and the wonderful aroma that spreads through the home.
Number 8: Cook a hearty stew or a soup that warms you up. Feel free to use seasonal vegetables. I can really feel the aromas spreading in the room just by writing down the words.
Number 9: Reflect on the months that have passed. Have you achieved what you wanted to, otherwise there is still a month or so left to catch up on the ones you didn't have time to do. There is also time to plan for Christmas and New Year and how it can be as stress-free as possible. Reflect now on what you are thinking about next year. No massive plans you can't keep, but more small adjustments that will make your life easier, more wonderful, more manageable and stress-free.
Number 10: Don't forget to enjoy yourself. Take time for yourself. Take a long bath with a nice oil in it that does wonders for your skin. Do things that make you feel good.
There is a lot you can do this time of year: take out cozy sweaters from the closet, prepare and review what you have so that everything is in place for the really cold months. Think about what you might cook, preferably according to the seasonal ingredients. Write a diary. Think about life. There is a lot you can do without being overwhelmed. The more you have control over the situation, the less stress you need to experience. Enjoy the life you are in now, breathe it in, feel it in and listen to it.
