What is minimalist lifestyle

As a minimalist, you live with fewer possessions than the average. That being said, it doesn't mean that your home needs to be bare and boring without things. It simply means that you only have what you need and nothing else. You don't have the layer upon layer method of things that you have just because you might need it in the future. Minimalism is about living more here and now.

Distraction
Everything we own takes up space in our brain even if we don't always think about it or know about it. As a minimalist, you create space for other things in the brain instead, such as learning new things. And since minimalists don't shop as much, this lifestyle is great if you want or need to save money.
It's about owning things with meaning, which give value in life. There is no right or wrong in minimalism, it's all about living with the things that benefit you in your life. The extreme minimalists may have a mattress on the floor in an otherwise bare bedroom, while you who have a family probably need to have significantly more things than that around you. How you want to live is up to you.

When should you pursue this lifestyle yourself
If you feel overwhelmed by all the things. You feel that you never have time to do the cleaning, the laundry or to put away. When you feel stressed and rushed by your own life. Then it's time for a change. Then maybe minimalism is just right for you.
Many slip into the minimalist lifestyle when stress took over their lives. When commitments became too many to handle. When the things and life around you distracted too much. The fact that you are reading this probably shows that you are curious about the lifestyle. Try it, how you adapt to it is entirely up to you.

Where do I start?
You start by deciding that you need and want a change, to have a simpler life with fewer distractions. Where you can spend time on your own development instead of cleaning and maintaining the home. When you feel like help, where do I start, then it's time to do something about it. Then it's time to start decluttering.
I have other blog posts that talk about declutter so I won't delve into the topic here but more broadly talk about declutter. Start small if you are new to it, it is a skill that needs to be trained. It probably took you a long time to fill your home with things and then it must also take you a long time to get rid of the things. Find inspiration through my blog, Youtube (you can find my declutter videos through the link in the contact information on my website www.marysdeclutterlife.com) or you look up the inspiration that you feel suits you best. And then you start decluttering everything you feel you don't need. Let it take time and realize that you will declutter layer by layer much like peeling an onion. Don't forget to bring out the things from your home to, for example, a second-hand shop. And if you're down and don't know where to start, here are some tips:
- the kitchen = there are often double sets there
- the wardrobe = there you probably have clothes that are way too small or too big that you haven't used
- the junk box = that's just like the name mostly rubbish and junk

Think about this
For many, it is very difficult to start decluttering. We are often very attached to our things even though our things may seem insignificant to someone else. When you get stuck and hesitate, think the following, IS THE THING WORTH MORE THAN YOUR WELL-BEING? If the answer is no, then you can get rid of the thing as you value your own life more. If the answer is yes then you need to reevaluate and work on yourself first. You have to realize that you, just you, is the most important thing to you.
